Victoria Park Students’ Holiday Help

Dec 16, 2016 | 1:40 PM

LETHBRIDGE – Around 30 Victoria Park students are spreading holiday cheer in the Casa parking lot today (Dec. 16) handing out sandwiches and chili to those downtown who need a pick-me-up.

Crystal Shigemi, Victoria Park teacher says that the event provides the perfect opportunity for students to learn just how easy it is to give back to the community.

“The students learn how easy it is to give back. We do everything from the beginning we put the shopping list together and assembled the sandwiches together as the girls from the Interact club made up five crock pots of homemade chili.”

Along with the assistance from The Salvation Army, local business such as Cuppers and the north-side Sobeys also contributed to the cause with their donations of food and hot beverages.
