Lethbridge College Expanding Services With New Pincher Creek Regional Campus

PINCHER CREEK – Students in Pincher Creek will have more educational options thanks to the opening of a new Lethbridge College regional campus in Pincher Creek.

Pincher Creek had a regional campus up until 2013 after an operational review of the rural campus resulted in the need for a restructuring plan to improve the effectiveness of the college’s programming and services.

Leah Wack, Lethbridge College’s manager of regional stewardship says this time around, the College promises to focus more on their community partners.

“Community partners will help ensure consistency and a wide perspective of the population there – there are plenty of resources there already and throughout the partnership we are able to access resources on behalf of the learners without looking for new resources.”

Partner organizations for campus include the local Pincher Creek Adult Learning Council, Pincher Creek Parent Link Family Centre, Pincher Creek Municipal Library, Matthew Halton High School and the Town of Pincher Creek.

Monica Sczyrba-Davis, chair of the Lethbridge College Community Advisory Council and Pincher Creek Community Adult Learning coordinator says that the partner organizations will work together to follow through on learner centered needs.

“Various Pincher Creek organizations have been working together for about a year now to bring about the return of a Lethbridge College regional campus,” she notes.

Community members will be able to access a variety of Lethbridge College services including exam and testing services, information about post-secondary programs and institutions, distance learning support, assistance with funding applications and referrals to counseling, advising and other Lethbridge College services.

A variety of programs or courses may also be accessible through the Pincher Creek Campus, such as in person instruction, online classes and video conferences.

Lethbridge College is currently conducting a survey of educational needs in Pincher Creek, to provide information to the college and its partners about the programs and services needed for the regional campus.
