Hurricane Captain Tyler Wong named WHL play of the week

LETHBRIDGE –  Registering 10 points (5G-5A) in four games has resulted in Hurricane’s team Captain Tyler Wong being named WHL play of the week (for week ending Jan 15).

Wong helped the Canes earn points in four consecutive games, going 2-0-1-1 this past week.

The 20-year old right winger from Cochrane is fourth in WHL scoring with 66-points (33G-33A) in 43 games and his 33 goals puts him third in WHL goal scoring.

Also of note, the Canes 6-5 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Enmax, saw Wong pick up an assist for his 250th point in 290 games in the Western Hockey League.

On January 3rd, Wong was named WHL Player of the Month for December after posting 25 points (8G-17A) in 12 games, leading the Hurricanes to a record of 8-2-2-0.

WHL stats show Wong notched two points (1G-1A) in a 7-4 win at Edmonton on January 11. On Friday, January 13, he added another two points (1G-1A) in a 6-5 shootout loss to Prince George, being named third star for his efforts. The next night –  

Wong struck for two more points (1G-1A) in a 6-5 win versus Edmonton. Then, on Sunday, he had a four-point performance, in the 6-5 overtime loss at Calgary and was named second star.
 
The next game for Wong and the Hurricanes will be Wednesday (Jan 18), when the team hosts Swift Current.
