Accused expected to enter new plea in Taber murder case
LETHBRIDGE – A preliminary inquiry that was set to run for three days for a man accused of second degree murder, came to an early end on day one (Jan. 18), and Thursday (Jan. 19) morning we found out why.
Charges of second degree murder and offering an indignity to a body against Stacey Charles Wahpistikwan — which were originally before the court in Taber — were brought into Lethbridge, with his lawyer saying they intend to offer a plea to a new charge of manslaughter.
The case was then adjourned to Jan. 27 in anticipation of that plea.
On the morning of September 22, 2015, police responded to a complaint of a disturbance and a missing person at a rural home near Taber. Once on scene they discovered the body of 36-year old Silas Kiseyinewakup near the farm where he was employed.
