COALDALE –  A Coaldale man is facing a string of charges relating to an alleged sexual assault of a 15-year old girl.

The incident happened Tuesday (Jan. 17) morning at a Coaldale home. A complaint was initially filed with Lethbridge police and turned over to Coaldale RCMP, who executed a search warrant and arrested 32-year old Trevor Pritchard.

Pritchard, who is a registered sex offender, faces the following criminal code charges:

– Sexual assault;

– For a sexual purpose, unlawfully touching a person under 16 years of age;

– Abduction of a person under the age of 16;

– Uttering threats;

– Communicating with a person under 16 years of age to commit a sexual related offence;

– Communicating with a person under 18 years of age to commit a sexual related offence.

Pritchard remains in custody for his first court appearance on January 25.

The accused finished off a 44-month sentence in November of 2013 for the sexual assault of two 13-year old girls. He was then released into Lethbridge, with police issuing a warning that he was a high risk to re-offend against girls under the age of 16. He was also under a two-year peace bond with numerous conditions and a curfew.

The release condition stated that he could not possess any electronic device with internet access.

Then, in February of 2014, Pritchard was picked up for breaching his release conditions. A month later, he was sentenced to 90-days in jail and 18-months probation, which again stated that he could not possess any electronic device that could access the internet.  Lethbridge Police re-issued a warning that Pritchard was considered a high risk to re-offend against female children.

RCMP Staff Sergeant Glen Henry spoke with LethbridgeNewsNow.com and confirmed that Pritchard is currently a resident of Coaldale.

“People that are within the sex offender registry must report to the police jurisdiction where they live yearly, and provide their address and other pertinent information, so I can confirm that Mr. Pritchard did do that with the Coaldale RCMP.

Staff Sergeant Henry noted that the sex offender’s obligation to report where he resides is required for police but, there is no requirement that the information be broadcast to the public.

Henry said there is a single victim related to the charges against Pritchard at this time but, the RCMP are “at the very early stages of this investigation.”
