Provincial Scotties field includes three Lethbridge rinks

LETHBRIDGE – Three local rinks are in the hunt for the provincial women’s curling championship.

Casey Scheidegger, whose team won its first Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event earlier this month in North Battleford, Sask., is in the field at the Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts, which begins Wednesday, Jan. 25 in St. Albert. Her rink also includes third Cary-Anne McTaggart, second Jessie Scheidegger, lead Stephanie Enright, fifth Nikki Smith, and coach Carolyn McRorie.

The Lethbridge Curling Club is also being represented by the Kalynn Virtue and Jodi Marthaller rinks. Virtue is joined by third Shana Snell, second Amanda Craigie, lead Kaitlin Stubbs, and coach Brock Virtue.

Marthaller’s team includes third Tessa Ruetz, second Nicole Larson, lead Valerie Ekelund, and coach Jeff Davidson.

The first draw is at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, with Virtue taking on Delia DeJong and Marthaller up against Holly Scott. Scheidegger will take on the winner of Marthaller vs. Scott at 6:30 p.m.

The event runs through Sunday, Jan. 29 with the championship at 5 p.m. at the St. Albert Curling Club.
