Wong honoured for second time as WHL Player of the Week

LETHBRIDGE – A successful road trip through the WHL’s East Division has the Lethbridge Hurricanes within a hair of the Central Division lead. And the team’s captain has been honoured for his role in the win streak.

Forward Tyler Wong has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 5. Wong had three goals and seven assists to help the Hurricanes sweep all four games.

Wong scored the winning goal short-handed, and added an insurance goal on the power play against the Pats Feb. 28 in Regina. He was named the third star in Lethbridge’s 5-2 victory at Prince Albert March 3, after scoring a goal and two assists.

The Cochrane product was also honoured as player of the week in January. He was also named the WHL Player of the Month for December. Wong is enjoying a career season with a league-leading 48 goals in 63 games. His 101 points is third overall.
