LETHBRIDGE – Police are looking for a couple who allegedly responded to a Kijiji ad by stealing the puppies for sale, and dragging the owner when she tried to stop them.

Officers were called just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2. According to police, a man and woman went to a home on Trent Road in west Lethbridge in response to an ad offering five French Bulldog puppies for sale. The owner told police she left them alone for a short time, and when she returned to the room, the couple and puppies were gone. But she saw them drive away and followed.

Police said the owner caught up with the suspects at McMaster Boulevard and Whoop-Up Drive and tried to open their vehicle door. She was dragged approximately 30 feet and hit by the vehicle, which was last seen headed east on Whoop-Up. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators have spoken with a number of witnesses.

The male suspect is described as a man in his mid-20s of Arab descent, approximately 5’7″, with a thin build, short brush-cut, wearing glasses, a blazer with white writing, a white T-shirt, and baseball cap. He spoke with an accent.

The female suspect is also in her mid-20s, described as Causasian, approximately 5’4″, 200 lbs., with blonde hair. She was wearking spandex pants, a tank top, green jacket, baseball cap, and a lot of makeup.

Their vehicle is a silver-coloured late-model Jeep with a broken driver’s side mirror.

The dogs are three-week-old French Bulldogs. Two are blue mantle, one blue pied, one brue brindle, and one blue fawn.
