LETHBRIDGE – A case in which a 42-year old man was charged with manslaughter 20-months after a woman was killed in Standoff is now scheduled for a preliminary hearing.

On the morning of June 27, 2015, Blood Tribe Police responded to reports of an unresponsive female, who was later pronounced dead in hospital. An autopsy indicated the cause of death was homicide.

A complex investigation into the death of Sara-Jean Big Sorrel Horse followed, carried out by the RCMP South Major Crime Unit and Blood Tribe Police.

Then, on Feb. 3, 2017, Jimmy Bad Man was arrested and charged with manslaughter.

The preliminary hearing will determine if there’s enough evidence to take the matter to the trial. It has been scheduled to run Nov. 6-10, 2017, in Lethbridge.

Meanwhile, an unrelated charge of aggravated assault against Bad Man for an incident in January, will be heard in Cardston Provincial Court on Monday (Apr. 24).
