ALBERTA – Our region of Alberta saw another small decline in its unemployment rate.

The Lethbridge-Medicine Hat region’s unadjusted three-month rolling average was 6.8 per cent in April, down from 6.9 per cent. It’s still the lowest in the province.

The Calgary region was nine per cent, Edmonton 8.6 per cent, and the Red Deer area surpassed Camrose-Drumheller to become the region of highest unemployment, at 9.7 per cent.

Alberta’s unemployment rate dropped from 8.4 to 7.9 per cent. However, that’s due to a slight reduction in the labour force, with the level of employment nearly unchanged.
