Wong signs AHL contract with Chicago Wolves

LETHBRIDGE – Former Hurricanes captain Tyler Wong has signed a contract to play in the American Hockey League next season.

Wong, who spent his entire WHL career with Lethbridge, has signed with the Chicago Wolves for the 2017-18 season. Wong previously appeared in an amateur tryout with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies in 2015-16, recording one assist in three games.

The Cochrane native played in 317 regular season games with the ‘Canes, scoring 143 goals and adding 155 assists. Wong had 224 penalty minutes during that time, and a plus-minus rating of +12.

Wong led the Hurricanes in scoring in 2016-17, with a league-best 51 goals. He was named the WHL’s Humanitarian of the Year in the last two seasons, and won a number of team awards.
