Warner CAO pleads not guilty, sets trial date on uttering threats charge

LETHBRIDGE – A trial date has been set for Jon Hood, the Chief Administrative Officer for the Village of Warner.

After entering a plea of not guilty to a charge of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm on Monday (May 15), a lawyer appearing for Hood on Friday (May 19) had the matter set for a one day trial on Oct. 3, 2017.

RCMP confirm the charge arose from an incident on Mar. 19, with reports from Global News Lethbridge saying it’s connected to an alleged confrontation involving a Warner resident, and that it came after the province ordered a municipal inspection of the community.

That order came as the result of a petition from a group of Warner residents in September of 2016, with Municipal Affairs stating that the inspection can examine any matter connected with the management, administration, or operation of the municipality or any assessment prepared under Part 9 (Property Assessment) of the Municipal Government Act.
