FORT MCMURRAY — Walks were the difference as the Lethbridge Bulls dropped a 4-2 decision to the Fort McMurray Giants Sunday, June 18.

While starting pitcher Liam Sabiston allowed only one hit in five innings, the five walks he gave up led to three earned runs by the Giants. Reliever Hunter Cunningham closed out the game, allowing two hits and one run.

The Bulls registered seven hits on the Giants. Blake MacDonald and Carter Witbeck combined for five of them. Both Lethbridge runs came in the ninth inning, scored by Brock Frentzel and Dylan Flasch on a single by Witbeck. But the rally was too little, too late.

John Reid was the winning pitcher for Fort McMurray, allowing five hits and five walks with six strikeouts in six innings.

With the loss, Lethbridge has a record of 9-5, dropping to third place in the Western Division, behind 9-4 Okotoks and 8-4 Edmonton.

The Bulls have a day off before heading to Brooks to play the Bombers, Tuesday, June 20. Their next home action is against the Bombers Thursday, June 22.
