Safety the theme of construction industry barbecue

LETHBRIDGE — Safety on the jobsite was the theme of what has become an annual event for Lethbridge’s construction industry Thursday, June 22.
Cool, windy weather moved the safety awareness barbecue indoors at the office of the Lethbridge Construction Association, which puts on the event in conjunction with the Lethbridge Home Builders Association and Lethbridge Regional Safety Committee. Several exhibitors were on hand to provide information.
“We’re focusing a lot on fall protection, administrative penalties, fire safety, securing loads as you’re driving down the street, those types of things,” said Angela Zuba, CEO of the Canadian Home Builders Association, Lethbridge Region.
Zuba said the onus is on employers and employees to ensure their safety.
