Hurricanes select Russian-born forward in import draft

LETHBRIDGE – The Hurricanes have used their 48th overall selection in the CHL Import Draft on a 6’3”, 180-lb. Russian-born forward.

Yegor Zudilov, 16, had 31 goals and 34 assists along with 18 penalty minutes during the 2016-2017 season with Avangard Omsk of the Russia Under-17 League. He did not register a point during one game in which he played with the MHL’s Omskie Yastreby.

The Hurricanes did not use their second pick in the draft, which was held Wednesday, June 28.

The last import draft Lethbridge participated in ended up a productive one. In 2015 the Hurricanes selected Egor Babenko, who has 124 points in 133 regular season games over two seasons, as well as Igor Merezhko, who has 31 points over 128 games with 149 penalty minutes.
