Claresholm man’s talk on agriculture earns award

CALGARY — A young Claresholm man has been honoured for speaking about a passion for agriculture.

Chancey Lane was the winner in the senior division of the Alberta Young Speakers for Agriculture competition at the Calgary Stampede July 12. He’s now eligible to compete in the national competition in Toronto.

Quinten Albrecht of Holden, Alta. won in the junior division. Both speakers based their talks on the topic, “Working in agriculture is more than just farming.”

“This competition is about giving the young leaders of tomorrow the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed in Canadian agriculture,” Deb Hart, the group’s incoming president, said in a news release.
