Lethbridge region gets much needed rain

Aug 8, 2017 | 6:54 AM

LETHBRIDGE — It couldn’t have come at a better time.

Just as the long weekend was winding down, showers and thunderstorms passed through the Lethbridge region during the evening of Monday, Aug. 7. It appears Lethbridge itself got the most rain, 10.8 mm or approximately two-fifths of an inch, as of midnight.

The only other significant total was at Claresholm, which reported roughly 8 mm.

The rain comes during a summer that has been not only extremely dry, but with long stretches of daytime highs in the 30s. Conditions have forced local and provincial officials across southern Alberta to implement bans on open fires and off highway vehicle use.
