LETHBRIDGE – As the Lethbridge Police Service continues to investigate what is believed to have been a random assault at Henderson Lake, they have released a composite sketch of the suspect.

A 24-year old woman called police around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 17), reporting that she had been walking south on the east side of the lake near a bridge, when she felt someone grab her arm. The unknown man then allegedly pushed her to the ground and attempted to remove her shorts. She was able to escape and ran to her car, where she then contacted police.

Police searched the area with assistance from the K9 team, but were not able to locate a suspect.

The suspect is described as an Aboriginal male in his 20s, about six feet tall with dark hair. He was wearing a red shirt and jeans, and had a nickel-sized tear drop tattoo on his cheek.

Police are reminding those using paths and parks in the city to always be aware of their surroundings – whether it’s day or night – and to contact them immediately if they see suspicious activity.

Anyone with information in regard to the alleged incident is asked to contact police at 403-328-4444 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
