LETHBRIDGE –– A fireball in the sky that was spotted by several people in Lethbridge and southwestern Alberta appears to have entered the atmosphere between Cranbrook and Nelson, B.C.

That’s according to the American Meteor Society (AMS), which is tracking reports of the bright light in the sky Monday, Sept. 4. According to the organization’s website, the event happened at approximately 11:15 p.m. MDT.

The site says the fireball entered the atmosphere near Boswell and terminated near Meadow Creek, B.C.

The bright light produced a flurry of calls to RCMP detachments around the B.C. Interior. AMS said in addition to there and Alberta, sightings were also reported from Saskatchewan, Washington, Idaho, and Montana.
