SWIFT CURRENT – The Lethbridge Hurricanes fell short in a 3-2 preseason loss on the road against the Broncos Sunday, Sept. 10.

Arthur Miller had a pair of goals for Swift Current, including the game winner in the second period. Miller also opened the scoring at the eight minute mark of the first. The Hurricanes then tied it up with a goal by Hayden Clayton.

Jadon Joseph scored on the power play in the third period to bring Lethbridge within a goal, but that was the end of the scoring.

Bryan Thomson turned away 21 of 24 shots on the Lethbridge net, while Swift Current’s Taz Burman stopped 38 of 40 attempts.

The Hurricanes are now 1-3 on the preseason. Their final exhibition tilt is Friday, Sept. 15 when they take on the Kootenay Ice at Crowsnest Pass.

Ice, Broncos agree to player swap

Earlier Sunday, Kootenay and Swift Current agreed to a trade that sends 17-year-old forward Max Patterson to the Broncos, in exchange for 18-year-old netminder Bailey Brkin and a conditional fifth round draft pick.

Kamloops product Patterson has 17 goals and 27 points in 130 regular season games with the Ice. His father Ed is a former Bronco. Brkin, who hails from Sherwood Park, has only appeared in one regular season WHL game.

Patterson did not suit up for Swift Current in the game against Lethbridge.
