PINCHER CREEK – While a state of local emergency remains in place for the M.D. of Pincher Creek, and mandatory evacuations are still in effect south of Highway 505 to Waterton Park and at the Castle Mountain Resort, plans for re-entry are being formulated.

The M.D. also noted in a media update Wednesday morning (Sept. 13), that five homes, five outbuildings, two large sheds and one bridge on private property were lost to the fire, along with fence lines, hay and some power lines.

Residents in the Twin Butte area are being allowed past the RCMP road blocks. However, they will need to register with police at those road blocks by providing their driver’s license. One inside, residents are permitted to access their properties for two hours to check on their homes and livestock.

At this time, no access is being granted to the Castle Mountain Resort.
