LETHBRIDGE – The Hurricanes have re-assigned forward Hayden Clayton to Junior-A, ahead of their season opener Friday, Sept. 22.
The 17-year-old will rejoin the AJHL’s Whitecourt Wolverines. He was signed by Lethbridge in 2016 after going undrafted. In five preseason games with the Hurricanes Clayton had a goal and a +1 rating.
With the move the ‘Canes have 15 forwards, eight defensemen, and two goaltenders on their 25-man roster.
Lethbridge will open the WHL regular season at home Friday against the Medicine Hat Tigers. Over the last five regular seasons the Hurricanes have an 11-10 record against the Tigers, and eliminated Medicine Hat in seven games in the second round of the playoffs.
