VULCAN  - RCMP confirm the body of a missing man was recovered from McGregor Lake, around12:45 Monday afternoon.

The 27-year old High River resident went missing on September 30, following a boating accident. At that time, four men were fishing on the lake when their boat capsized in rough conditions. One man was able to swim to shore and the two others were picked up while swimming by a passing boater. The men were treated by EMS at the scene for hyperthermia.

The fourth man and the boat could not be found, in spite of Search and Rescue efforts which utilized sonar.

Sunday’s recovery was made with the assistance of the Calgary Fire Aquatics Teams, Strathmore Fire Department, Vulcan County Fire Departments, Fish and Wildlife officers, Vulcan RCMP, EMS, and Vulcan Victim Services. A number of local citizens also assisted in the search and recovery efforts throughout the week.

The name of the victim is not being released.

The Vulcan RCMP thank and commend all of those who provided help and support during this tragic event.
