Skinner to play in Canada/Russia series

LETHBRIDGE – Hurricanes goaltender Stuart Skinner is about to face some international competition.

Skinner is one of two WHL goaltenders named to take part in the 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series. The WHL squad will play the Russian team Nov. 6 in Swift Current and Nov. 7 in Moose Jaw. Games three through six will be hosted by the Ontario and Quebec major junior leagues.

Last year Skinner’s teammate Giorgio Estephan played in the tournament.

Skinner has a 4-4-0-0 record with the ‘Canes so far this season, with a 3.06 goals-against average, and a save percentage of .912. The 18-year-old is a third-round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers.
