Fire bans issued for City of Lethbridge, Lethbridge County

LETHBRIDGE – A day after numerous wildfires sprung up across southern Alberta, the City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge County have issued fire bans.
They noted that the warm, dry and windy conditions have increased the risk of fire spread and extreme fire behaviour.
Inside the city, the fire ban includes all backyard fire pits, but does not apply to propane or natural gas fire pits.
For the County, the ban covers all open fires, with the exception of those fires that are contained in a cooking or heating appliance, which is fueled by fluids or gases.
