CROWSNEST PASS – Some good news for the residents of Coleman, a community under threat from a wind-fuelled wildfire.

The province said Thursday, Oct. 19 that the fire, located between Coleman and Sentinel Industrial Park, is now considered as being held, at around 100 ha. In a tweet, Alberta Wildfire said suppression efforts would continue throughout the day.

Wednesday afternoon, the municipality of Crowsnest Pass lifted an evacuation order for Willow Drive in Coleman, because the fire in that area was considered held. A re-entry plan was implemented to allow people back home.

Thursday morning the municipality lifted the remaining evacuation orders, as well as the alert for the entire town. Before being allowed back in, however, residents will have to visit the municipal office for a re-entry package and permit.
