PINCHER CREEK – A possible outbreak of ringworm has led to precautions at the Pincher Creek animal shelter.
The Humane Society/SPCA said the disease was detected in two kittens. As a result, the shelter is closed to the public and no animals are being allowed in or out.
The organization is following its protocol, with the advice of a veterinarian, to make sure the building has been entirely disinfected. It’s a process that could take as long as three weeks, the society’s president said.
In the meantime, any animals that have to be surrendered will be taken in either by a partner agency or a foster home.
