Suspect in custody after alleged home invasion

LETHBRIDGE – One man is in custody and Lethbridge Police say charges are pending, following an alleged home invasion Tuesday morning (Nov. 14).

In a media release from LPS, they say they were called to a home along the 500 block of 12 Street South around 5:15 a.m., after a male with a firearm broke into the residence, threatened a man and woman, and demanded cash and drugs. It’s alleged that the subject discharged one round inside the home, but fled the scene when one of the occupants identified him.

They noted that no one was injured.

As part of their investigation, LPS went to a home along the 600 block of 12 Street South and cordoned the area off as a precaution. Police negotiators made contact with the subject, who was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and police say a search warrant is being executed at the home. They added that the suspect and victims are known to each other, and that the incident was not random.
