Lethbridge celebrating Canada 150 Skating Day

LETHBRIDGE – Today, cities across the country are celebrating Canada 150 Skating Day, including right here in Lethbridge.

The City of Lethbridge has partnered with local skating groups to ensure 2017 ends with as much fun as it started, when the year-long celebrations for Canada’s 150th birthday began.

All of the activities are free, and include:

– Civic Ice Arena, free skating with the Lethbridge Skating Club between 10:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. There’s free hot chocolate and snacks, a draw for free half season group lesson registration, a draw for a free tablet and other giveaways.

– Labour Club, free skating between 2:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.

– Nicholas Sheran Arena, free skating with members of the women’s and men’s University of Lethbridge Pronghorns hockey teams between 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

– ATB Centre – Lethbridge Curling Club’s Desk N File Lounge, between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. there will be free cookies, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and apple cider for the first 150 people through the doors.

– ATB Centre West Arena (red) – free skating with the Southern Alberta Skating Academy including: figure skating demo from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., free lesson from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and a free open skate between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. There’s also a chance to win a 10-week Canskate lesson (Jan-March 2018)

The first 100 people get free skate towels and there will be Canada 150 giveaways include stickers, pens, and balloons on site as well.
