LETHBRIDGE – After a 28-year career with the City of Lethbridge, City Treasurer Corey Wight will retire in 2018.

He gave his official notice to council at Monday’s meeting.

Wight joined the City in 1990 as a Finance Supervisor, was promoted to Manager of Financial Planning and Budget in 2004, and appointed to Treasurer and Director of Corporate Services in 2008.

Mayor Chris Spearman says they all appreciate his dedication to the City of Lethbridge.

“Mr. Wight’s financial acumen, his attention to detail and his extensive financial planning and budget experience have been extremely valuable for the current City Council as well as previous councils he has worked with.”

Wight says he’s thankful to have had such a rewarding career in public service.

“I have worked with some of the best and brightest and will leave knowing that our employees will continue to work hard to meet the needs of the community.”

Taking Wight’s place will be Hailey Pinksen, who has been the Manager of Financial Planning and Budget for the last 10 years.

She is a Chartered Professional Accountant, and Certified Internal Auditor.

Wight will step down as Treasurer in early January, but will continue as Director of Corporate Services until sometime next summer.

Pinksen will begin her new position Jan. 2, 2018.
