LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge bid committee for the 2022 Can-Am Police and Fire Games has fallen short in its effort.

Following presentations Monday, Dec. 11 in Ozark, Missouri, site of the 2018 games, a statement from Lethbridge Sport Council executive director Susan Eymann said Lethbridge had not been selected.

“To borrow a sports metaphor, the Lethbridge 2022 Can-Am Police-Fire Games Bid Team left ‘everything on the field’ in their efforts to win the Games for Lethbridge,” Eymann said.

“Lethbridge Sport Council and the Games Bid Committee would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped with and supported our bid,” the statement added. “We did our absolute best to try and win the right to host the 2022 Games. For that, everyone involved should be immensely proud.”

A tweet from Windsor, Ont. Mayor Drew Dilkins indicated his city had been successful in winning the event. Lubbock, Texas had been the other city in the running.

The Host Community Selection Committee visited Lethbridge in early October, and left impressed, Eymann said at the time.
