Fatal collision closes Stafford Drive North Friday afternoon

LETHBRIDGE – A 61-year-old man is dead, following a collision involving a bicycle and flatbed truck Friday, Dec. 15.
Lethbridge Police were called to the scene at Stafford Drive and 3 Avenue North around 2:30 p.m.
An investigation by the LPS Specialized Collision Investigation Unit found that the truck had been travelling west on 3 Ave, stopped at a stop sign then proceeded to turn northbound onto Stafford Dr. Police say the cyclist was riding southbound on the sidewalk on the east side of the street, when he came into contact with the middle-rear portion of the truck, and was pulled and dragged underneath.
The man was taken to the Chinook Regional Hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
