Lethbridge man accused of sexually assaulting teens heading to trial

LETHBRIDGE – A Lethbridge man accused of sexually assaulting two teenage boys, has consented to proceed to trial.

The decision from Cody Tyler Black Forehead and his defence counsel, Scott Hadford, followed a preliminary hearing Monday morning, Jan. 15, to determine if there was enough evidence to warrant a trial.

After hearing that evidence – which is covered under a publication ban – Hadford said they consented to committal, but only on two charges each of sexual assault and sexual interference. With the agreement of the Crown prosecutor, Black Forehead received a discharge on an addition charge of invitation to sexual touching.

The matter was then adjourned to Feb. 12, at which time it’s anticipated a trial date will be scheduled. Black Forehead had previously elected trial by judge alone.

In a media release from the Lethbridge Police Service, they stated that an investigation found two 15-year old boys snuck out of their homes and met with an adult one of them had met through social media, on the night of Apr. 27, 2017. Over the course of the evening, the boys consumed drugs and alcohol at the man’s home, and were then allegedly sexually assaulted.

Black Forehead remains out of custody on $2,000 bail, under conditions that he report to police, that he not consume drugs or alcohol unless prescribed by a doctor, and that he have no contact with anyone under the age of 18 unless in the company of another adult.

While he will be allowed to use a computer – as Hadford noted that Black Forehead is currently a student at the University of Lethbridge – he can not use it to access social media for the purpose of communicating with underage individuals.
