Lethbridge man facing attempted murder charges
LETHBRIDGE – A 28-year old city man is facing two charges of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault involving his parents.
Around 2:40 Sunday (Feb 11) morning, police were called to deal with an assault at a west side home.
An Investigation determined that a 72-year-old man and his 62-year-old wife had been asleep in their bedroom when their son entered the room and allegedly stabbed them before fleeing the home.
The man sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where he was treated and released. The woman was treated on scene by EMS.
Police located the couple’s son a short distance away. He is remanded in custody, ahead his first court appearance on Feb. 14., and was ordered to undergo a psychiatric assessment before that date.
The suspect will not be identified, in order to protect the identity of the victims.
