Lethbridge Sport Council announces winners of 2017 Achievement Awards

LETHBRIDGE – Winners of the 8th annual Lethbridge Sport Council Achievement Awards for their achievements and contributions to sport in Lethbridge in 2017 have been announced.

The following list is all the winners for the past year:

Junior Male Athlete – Noah Higgins

Junior Female Athlete – Grace Holowiski

Senior Male Athlete (co-winner) – Peter Millman

Senior Male Athlete (co-winner) – Aaron Hernandez

Senior Female Athlete – Sunder West

Master Athlete – Deborah Williams

Athlete with a Disability – Joshua Baerg

Amateur Team – Lethbridge College Kodiaks Women’s Basketball Team

Coaching Excellence – Russ Gallant

Officiating Excellence – Deirdre Coburn

Volunteer in Sport – Dave Overes

Sport Administrator – Cherise Eaves

Sport Organization – South West Little League

Servus Credit Union Outstanding Sport Citizen – Peter Millman

Business and Sport Excellence – Rob Smith – ATB Financial

Knud Petersen Spirit in Sport – A. Will Smith

These awards recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements on and off the field, which support and demonstrate respect of the game, a love of sport, respect for others and a commitment to fair play and ethical sport.

Lethbridge Sport Council Executive Director Susan Eymann says Lethbridge has a history of being well represented at all levels of sport, provincially and nationally.

“It is our honour to host these community sport awards to celebrate the achievements of our local athletes, coaches and sport leaders.”

The award ceremony for all of the athletes will be held on Thursday, April 5 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Canadian Western Bank Lounge at the ENMAX Centre.

Tickets for the event are $20 for adults and $10 for youth.
