LETHBRIDGE – Two men have been taken to hospital, after they were stabbed outside of an apartment building located at 1619 Scenic Drive Wednesday morning.

Both were involved in an altercation just before 6:30 a.m. Police say there is no danger to the public.

According to a witness who lives in the building with her daughter, she was woken up by what she believed was a fight occurring in the building’s basement hallway. She says a younger looking man and young woman may also have been involved.

“About 6:30 [a.m.] there was thumping down the hall. My daughter opened the door and says ‘could you keep it down a bit,’ and I guess… they threw stuff. I dont’ know who was throwing what. And she was picking stuff that was hers, I guess.

At this point, LPS has not mentioned whether a female was involved in the incident.

“There’s stuff outside the window, looks like someone tried to get away or was throwing stuff out.”

The witness told LNN the building is usually quiet, with the exception of a stabbing that occurred in the same building about a year ago.

Blood spatters could be seen on the ice in front of the doorway, and in the front entrance.

“The police cars were here, there was about three or four of them, the ambulance, the firetruck and then forensic come and taped everything off, took pictures. Did whatever they had to do.”

The barriers have since been taken down. A property management official also attended the scene, but said he wasn’t sure what happened. There’s no word on any charges at this point, and no names have been released.

Police say they will provide an update when possible.
