LETHBRIDGE – A 32-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault, in connection with a stabbing outside a south Lethbridge apartment building.

Lethbridge Police Service members were called just before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 21 to the 1600 block of Scenic Drive S. According to investigators, the accused had driven a woman to a friend’s apartment. When they arrived, he was confronted by a 30-year-old man with a knife.

An argument followed, which became physical, and ended when the 32-year-old allegedly took the knife from the younger man and stabbed him several times with it. He called 911 after driving a short distance.

Both men were taken to the hospital, where the younger man remained Thursday in serious but stable condition.

The suspect, Lukus Stewart, appeared at a Judicial Interim Release hearing and was released on conditions. He’s scheduled to appear in court March 29 on one count of aggravated assault.

The 23-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on outstanding warrants.
