Apr 11, 2018 | 3:35 PM

LETHBRIDGE –  McMahon Youth, Family and Community Services Association, will be organizing this year’s Lethbridge “Point-in-Time” homeless count. The City of Lethbridge’s Social Housing In Action (SHIA) committee will also participate.

The nationally funded initiative is a community-based program that aims to prevent or reduce homelessness by providing help and funding for 61 communities across the country.

Volunteers will visit the Lethbridge shelter, remand centre, hospitals, and other identified sites to collect data on how many people experiencing homelessness were under their care that night.

The count will provide important data to help ensure vulnerable populations in Lethbridge have access to system care.

The count will begin tonight (April 11) at 7 p.m. and go until 12 a.m. It will resume again Thursday morning from 6 a.m. until 9 a.m.
