LETHBRIDGE – A speaker from the province aims to shed some light on the legalization of cannabis, and how it will impact Alberta families.

Ethan Bayne is executive director of strategy and planning for the Alberta Cannabis Secretariat. He’ll be speaking Thursday, April 19 at 7 p.m. at the Lethbridge Public Library downtown branch, under the heading, “Cannabis and the Law.”

It’s the first of two parts in a speaker series called “Up in Smoke,” aimed at encouraging discussion and answering questions. It will be followed by “Cannabis and Youth” April 26, featuring Christ Windle of Addiction and Mental Health, Alberta Health Services and Courtney Barks, an adolescent addictions counsellor.

The library said it’s important for citizens to be informed so the community is prepared for the new legislation.
