COVID-19 case confirmed at G.S. Lakie Middle School

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A positive case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at G.S. Lakie Middle School in Lethbridge.

The Lethbridge Schools Division says they have been alerted of one case at the school. Contact tracing for close contacts is currently underway.

The division said close contacts will be notified by email and instructed to quarantine for at least 14 days.

“If you are not contacted, then your child is not a close contact and can attend school as usual following all public health guidelines,” the division stated.

The school scheduled will proceed as normal on Monday, November 2.

The division did not say whether the positive case involved a student or staff member. The custodial team is conducting enhanced cleaning, which will focus on areas where the individual was present, along with high-touch areas and surfaces in the school.
