Aug 11, 2022 | 9:24 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Lethbridge wrestler is set to represent Canada on the world stage.

Angelina Ellis-Toddington is one of the 11 athletes selected by Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) for the country’s team at the 2022 Junior (Under-20) World Championships.

The competition takes place from August 15 to 21, 2022 in Sofia, Bulgaria. In total, the team is comprised of seven women and four men, set to compete against the world’s best.

The wrestlers were chosen based on their performance at the 2022 Canadian Wrestling Trials, which took place in late May in Edmonton, combined with results at the 2022 Pan-American Championships in Mexico last month.

Ellis-Toddington, from Lethbridge, competes for the University of Calgary Dinos. At the Pan-American Championships last month, she went 1-2 in the women’s 62-kilogram round robin to earn a bronze medal. At the Junior Worlds, Ellis-Toddington will compete in the women’s 62-kilogram category.
