Alberta kicks off Seniors’ Week with $18 million funding announcement
The province is providing funding for senior support in recognition of Seniors’ Week.
On Monday, June 3, 2024, the Alberta government has proclaimed the week as Seniors’ Week, which they say is an opportunity to celebrate their invaluable contributions to the province.
As part of the week, the province is providing $18 million in funding over three years, which will go towards both new and existing initiatives such as home support and outreach services.
Jason Nixon, Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services said, “Seniors’ Week is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions our seniors have made to our families, our communities, and to our province. Our government is committed to supporting seniors in living and aging independently in their communities, which is why this funding is so important.”
