Jan 18, 2016 | 11:42 AM

LETHBRIDGE:  The 23rd Annual STARS lottery launched Thursday including its $825,000 Lethbridge show home.

32,000 prizes are available worth over $5.6 million.

STARS VP of Alberta – Saskatchewan Operations Mike Lamacchia says it’s the non-profit air ambulance’s single largest fundraiser.

Lamacchia says it nets them approximately $11 million a year – which covers the annual operation costs for one base.

STARS has been operating for 30 years and has flown over 30 thousand missions.

The service’s very first patient was Lethbirdge native Kelly Waldren in 1985 when her and her twin brother were prematurely born.

Waldren says she has gone on to live a very exciting and fruitful life because of STARS and if it weren’t for them she wouldn’t be here.

50% of the fundraiser’s 50/50 tickets have been sold while 35% of the lottery tickets have already been purchased.

The $825,000 Lethbridge show home is located in the City’s north end on Maydell Palmer Vista N.
