Albertans to Get Involved with Provincial Legislation Review

Jan 23, 2016 | 7:13 AM

ALBERTA – Several Acts will be looked at during a provincial legislation review, and Albertans have the chance to have their say in it.

The review will tackle several issues. Specifically, it’ll look at how provincial elections are conducted, how parties and candidates are financed, whether public servants who report wrong-doings are protected and the balance between MLA private interests and public duties.

The Acts in question include the Election, Public Interest Disclosure, Conflict of Interest and Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Acts.

Chair of the Select Special Ethics and Accountability Committee and Edmonton-Mill Woods MLA, Christina Gray, is asking Albertans for written submissions with insight into such issues.

She says “this is a wonderful opportunity”, since most of the issues covered affect a large portion of Albertans.

You can make submissions at www.assembly.ab.ca/committees/ethicsandaccountability/index.html until February 26.
