Farm Succession Planning Seminars Set for Southern Alberta

Jan 25, 2016 | 3:49 AM

LETHBRIDGE:   A series of farm succession planning seminars are scheduled around southern Alberta in the first week of February.

They will include lawyers from Stringam LLP, a tax specialist with Young Parkyn McNab Chartered Accountants, and a financial advisor from Laurie Keena and Associates.

Stephen Mogdan with Stringam LLP says it’s important to sit down and think about what’s going to happen to the family farm once it’s time to retire.

“The complexity of it is not something that should scare a person away from looking at it and making some plans and having those conversations with some advisors, with a financial planner, with lawyers that can help you do some estate planning and to do it in a tax advantageous way, is something that really you should be putting in place as early as you can,” Mogdan adds.

Anyone who would like to take part in the sessions is asked to register by phoning Karly Patrick at 403-382-6804 or you can email her at karly.patrick@ypm.ca.

Here’s a list of the session locations and times:
