TABER: A Lethbridge man entered a plea of not guilty Tuesday morning in Taber court.

Scott James Piggott was charged in 2015, for offences that allegedly occurred between March and July of 2013. Police were informed that a local agriculture business had been defrauded out of more than $800,000.

Police say the scam involved obtaining hay under false pretenses, without ever paying for it.

Piggott has elected trial by judge and jury, with a pre-trial conference set for February 23. Should they fail to reach a resolution during the conference, the matter will be scheduled for trial.
