Hurricanes Tumble from Top Spot in the WHL Standings with 2-1 loss to Kelowna

LETHBRIDGE:    The Kelowna Rockets handed the Lethbridge Hurricnes their third straight loss Tuesday night, effectively tipping the Canes from top spot in the WHL standings.

Jordy Bellerive scored for the Hurricanes as Stuart Skinner made 27 saves in a losing cause.

The Hurricanes started a western road trip with ten wins in a row, only to rack three losses in succession. Last Friday, fell 3-1 to the Royals in Victoria. The following night, it was a 4-2 loss in Vancouver.

With Tuesday night’s win, the Rockets register 73 points to edge out the Canes, who have 72 points, for first in the WHL.

The Rockets are 35-and-15 in the standings, while the Hurricanes are 36-and-15. The Canes are also the only team in the WHL to post no over-time losses so far this season.

The next game for the Hurricanes in Friday (Feb 5th) night, as they host the Moose Jaw Warriors.
