Cycling Master Plan up for Public Feedback

LETHBRIDGE – Your input is necessary at an upcoming public engagement session to help inform the city on its new Cycling Master Plan.

The ultimate goal is to make bike travel easier, and will expand upon the existing Bike and Pathways Master Plan. The focus of the new plan is on more on-street components, instead of just off-street paths.

“The purpose is to let us know what challenges [cyclists] face in Lethbridge, and also to let us know what they’d like to see to make cycling a bit easier. We also want to know where people are coming from and going to, what paths people already use and what direction or where they’d like to go where there may be existing barriers,” noted Transportation Engineer, Adam St. Amant.

Boards were also posted at the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College, where individuals could write down their ideas to provide more input over the past week.

This is the first of three public meetings planned for this project, which will be hosted at CASA on Tuesday, March 15 at 7-pm. The next one hasn’t been planned yet, but St. Amant says it could be sometime in June.

The entire process is expected to take about a year to complete.
