LETHBRIDGE – Members of the Lethbridge Hurricanes are being recognized for their excellent season.

General Manager, Peter Anholt, has been named the Eastern Conference nominee for Executive of the Year. Anholt took over the team in 2014 and has made a number of trades to lift the team out of the WHL basement and into the playoffs.

Meantime, Head Coach Brent Kisio has been named the Eastern Conference nominee for Coach of the Year. Kisio was hired in June of 2015 and led the Hurricanes to their best overall record since 1996-1997 during his first season.

As for the players, defenseman Andrew Nielsen and forward Brayden Burke have both been named to the Eastern Conference All-Star teams.

19-year-old Nielsen made the Eastern Conference’s First All-Star Team after appearing in 71 games this season, collecting 70 points during that time to finish third in WHL scoring among defenseman.

Burke was named to the Eastern Conference’s Second All-Star Team after posting 109 points in 72 games. That put him third in WHL scoring this year and he is the first Hurricane to reach the 100 point mark since Jeremy Jackson in 2002-2003.

The Hurricanes will kick off the WHL Playoffs on Friday night when they host the Regina Pats for Game 1 at the ENMAX Centre.
