Large Animal Emergency Rescue Workshop Coming to Southern Alberta

May 2, 2016 | 11:57 AM

TWIN BUTTE – Alberta Farm Animal Care is putting on a two day workshop in Twin Butte this month dealing with Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue.

They will cover everything that you need to know in the event of a livestock emergency from a cattleliner rollover, barn collapse, barn fire, or even a cow stuck in a well.

The session will be led by a facilitor from Georgia, who’s an expert in large animal emergency rescues. The workshop will feature a mix of in-class instruction, as well as hands on experience.

Marketing and Membership Manager Kristen Hall says this is information that hopefully you won’t ever have to use, but is good to know.

“With every emergency, everyone thinks it’s never going to happen to me, and of course Alberta does have a lot of livestock, especially in southern Alberta, so really having the resources and those skills to deal with livestock in those emergencies, when they’re stressed out, potientially injured, and things like that, is super important,” explains Hall.

This two day event, south of Pincher Creek, costs $300. This covers two breakfasts, two lunches, snacks for both days, as well as a $150 textbook. To register, visit http://www.afac.ab.ca/programs-events.
